Description

The Bettermaker Mastering Equalizer is an advanced mastering EQ with a 100% analog audio signal path. It features USB connectivity with Mac/PC allowing for all parameters to be digitally controlled via touchscreen and/or DAW (with dedicated plug-in). The Mastering Equalizer comes with 399 presets, total recall, A/B comparison. The 5-inch capacitive touchscreen with back-light and multi-touch functionality includes four encoders with push-button action for ease of control. It features stereo, dual-mono and mid/side operation modes with solo function.

The Mastering Equalizer sports four parametric bands plus high and lowpass filter sections. Low and high bands may also be switched from bell curve to a shelving. The unit also includes a Pultec-style passive section plus 23kHz and 28kHz “air bands.” The display features a live graphical representation of the EQ curve with a built-in real-time analyzer (RTA) for input/output signal. You can engage via a front panel switch and Each EQ section can be individually enabled or disabled, and true bypass can be engaged via a front panel switch. EQ bands may be interlocked to adjust a combination of bands in sync, for example, to quickly make a broad EQ range brighter or darker.

Bettermaker's approach seems simple: cherry pick the best of vintage and modern circuit topologies and combine them in products that offer the sonic integrity of analog with the speed and workflow conveniences of working "in the box." The reality is that not all companies have the design chops to pull it off consistently. Bettermaker does. With the Mastering Equalizer, they took a fresh approach to classic mastering equalizer design. Modern, high-spec components were selected for long-term reliability and to help maintain transient response and the low noise floor required for today's recording practices. Take it from Sweetwater — this is a true mastering-grade piece of kit. Functionality was enhanced to accommodate the speed of today's hybrid studio workflow. Where possible, they increased gain resolution and frequency response to ensure maximum flexibility. Subjective listening tests played a big part in the development of this amazing mastering EQ. And the results speak for themselves.
