Fredenstein designed the Bento 8 Pro Pure Analog module carrier with several features that set it apart from many other 500 Series racks we’ve encountered. First, the Bento 8 Pro chassis is designed to deliver robust, ultra-clean power that will satisfy even the most demanding 500 Series modules. Second, its linear power supply consists of a mains transformer and linear regulators — a topology that provides the cleanest power for your modules. Many linear power supplies cannot deliver high enough output currents, but Bento 8 Pro outputs ±16 volts DC 2A and +48 volts DC 0.25A, 500mA per slot — sufficient for even the most power-hungry modules.
The Bento 8 Pro incorporates all the features of Fredenstein’s Bento 8 chassis and adds two VU meters to monitor the output of any module (mono or stereo), two channel selectors to monitor stereo outputs or two mono outputs, and a discrete headphone amp with volume control to monitor selected outputs.
Extensive shielding to eliminate induced hum
Another drawback of the typical linear power supplies used in 500 Series racks is that they are prone to hum from the mains transformer being induced directly into modules’ input and output transformers — especially for modules that occupy the slot nearest the supply. Bento 8 Pro incorporates extensive shielding of the mains transformer to eliminate induced hum.
